The Colorful Colorado
After New Mexico, I went to its neighboring state. I visited Colorado. While in Colorado, I have observed in their license plate they called it, the Colorful Colorado. As what I have seen also, it is undeniably colorful and beautiful with its amazing landscapes from the desert and rock formation to its green mountains with some ice caps and pine trees. Colorado is indeed a must visit state.
Colorado is in the western part of the United States encompassing most of the southern Rocky Mountains as well as the northeastern part of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains. Colorado is noted for its vivid landscape of mountains, forests, high plains, rivers, canyons, mesas, plateaus, and desert lands. Denver is the capital and most populous city of the state.
I only traveled the south of the state and these were the attractions and stopovers I had:
Four Corners Monument marks the quadripoint where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states leading to naming it, the Four Corners region. It is one of the most visited tourist spots in the Mountain region.
After the Four Corners Monument, I drove all the way to the next destination which was about an hour drive. I went to visit one of the famous attractions in Colorado.
Mesa Verde National Park is a national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Montezuma county. The national park is famous of its attraction, the Cliff Palace. It is the largest cliff dwelling in Mesa Verde National Park.
Next to the itinerary was just a random check on the map and found what looked like a promising stopover. It was about 2 hours drive from the national park.
Pagosa Springs is the municipality and the county seat in Archuleta county. The town is named for the sulfur springs located there which includes the world’s deepest geothermal hot spring. Visitors from all over the world come to enjoy its hot baths. Some come to cure ailments while others just to simply relax in mineral-rich waters.
My whole time I was in the state of Colorado was colorful. The landscapes were captivating and I love it. I may have encountered a little bump in the road when my car’s windshield got a small crack but in return I got to view how beautiful Colorado is. One of these days, I’ll surely be back in colorful Colorado and next time, I’ll see how the city looks like.
